Saute onions in 2 tablespoons oil until they become translucent, add garlic and saute until the garlic turns white and then add the ground cumin, basil, cilantro and stir it in.
Now add 1 can of black beans, 1 can of stewed tomatoes and 2 cups of vegetable broth and bring to a simmer while stirring occasionally. Simmer for 10 minutes.
Now using a hand blender, blend the mixture until it's completely blended.
If you do not have a hand blender you can use a regular blender. Now add the last can of black beans and 2 cups vegetable broth. Simmer 10 more minutes. Stir well and serve.
